Working directly with animal shelters and rescue organizations across the United States, the Millan Foundation supports the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of abused and abandoned dogs. In addition to awarding grants to qualified organizations, the Foundation creates and delivers to children and communities humane education programs that nurture life-long healthy relationships between dogs and people.

Public and media attention on the plight of dogs and cats awaiting adoption in shelters enhances the status and desirability of these animals, most of which are mixed breed "Mutt-i-grees."
